I'm joining Rhoda over at Southern Hospitality for her Today's Thrifty Treasures. I've been talking a lot about treasures lately. I really feel like the things I bring into my home are just that - treasures! They aren't expensive, but they are special pieces that reflect my design style and plain ol' make me happy. Speaking of treasures, I'm looking forward to seeing what ya'll are sharing for this Friday's Heirloom Party! If you don't know about it and would like to participate, read the details here. Love to have you join us!

I found this adorable step stool for $8 at our local antique mall. Maybe a little more than I wanted to spend, but it's perfectly chippy and old just like I like 'em! Love the soft, aqua color and oval shape. Emma stands on it while she helps me in the kitchen!

Look at this sweet $3 Fiestaware creamer. This is the first piece in my collection of this beautiful color, and hope to find more on my hunting adventures!

These next two items were not found at a thrift store but were definitely a thrifty price!

I have been curious lately about using drop cloths as curtains. I bought two from Home Depot for $8 ea. I was pleasantly surprised how much I like them! Very happy to get those black panels out of there, aren't you?  I have seen a few pro bloggers who have wielded their mean glue guns and mistreated the bottom of their drop cloth curtains. Since there's no sewing involved, I will give it a try. Any suggestions for mine? These are hanging in my school room, so maybe something fun?

And last is my new sale fan from Fry's for my living room. I love the bell shape of the base and the creamy color.

Wow Marie, I'm in love with your new fan. I saw a pretty blue in a thrift store while I was in college for $30, still kickin' myself if the butt for not getting it, but, a girl's gotta eat. lol.

The blue fiesta ware creamer is so cute, goes perfectly with your new blue pretties :)

Have you posted photos of your kitchen, I don't remember if I've seen them. From these shots, I can tell that I really like the door pulls and the towel rack. We have white cabinets, which I love, but the knobs and pulls are really modern looking and I REALLY want to change them. Just waiting till I win the lottery. :)

  9. Ashley Says:

oops, yes, I have seen your kitchen. I even commented on it. I guess I have a very short attention span, lol.

  11. Tricia Says:

    Hi Marie.
I adore the little stool. $8 was definetly not too much, especially if you love it! All of the new finds look like treasures to me.
Regarding the drop cloth drapes, I think that they would look fantastic if you used a fabric with a pattern that incorporates that lovely blue color of the desk. Maybe with a pretty pom pom trim where the two pieces meet. ;)
    Can't wait to see.
    XOXO

Hey Marie! Thanks for stopping by :) K love the little stool! Also, I'm curious to know what size of drapes you bought. I did the same in our Master, but ended up having to hem them a little bit and they were around $10. I think mine were 6'x9', so maybe there was a better size to get ??

Great stuff -- but I am especially smitten with the Fiesta creamer -- so sweet. I like the drop cloths as draperies -- as they are in your school room, I'd be tempted to either leave them as is, plain, or give the kids some fabric markers. . . .
    Cass

The aqua stool is great and I'd have given $8 for it easily! Moda makes a fabric series called "Wee Play" that would be great on those drop cloths/curtains!
